Tony Awards Will Remain on CBS Through 2032 Under New Five-Year Deal
The Tony Awards will remain on CBS under a new five-year deal announced Wednesday. The network revealed that it has sealed a new broadcast agreement with the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League that will keep the kudocast on CBS through 2032.
The Tonys have been on CBS since 1978 — and now reps the longest-running major awards show/network partnership, as the Grammys, Oscars, Golden Globes and Emmys have all struck new deals in recent years, moving from their longtime homes.
The deal also means the 80th annual Tony Awards, broadcast from New York’s Radio City Music Hall, will air live on CBS (and the premium tier of Paramount+) on June 13, 2027, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
“CBS has a celebrated history of supporting the creative arts on television and the Tony Awards are a cornerstone of that past, present and future,” said CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach in a statement. “George Cheeks and I are thrilled to extend the Network’s 48-year partnership with the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League and showcase the extraordinary talent, unforgettable performances and incomparable energy of Broadway to viewers across the country for years to come.”
Tony Awards Prods., a joint venture of the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League, produces the Tonys. Raj Kapoor, Sarah Levine Hall and Jack Sussman are set to produce the 2027 show. Kapoor and Levine Hall are co-showrunners, while Patrick Menton and Rob Paine are co-executive producers. Menton also serves as head of talent.
“We are thrilled to extend our long-standing partnership with CBS. For the past 48 years, we have collaborated with CBS to bring the best of Broadway to theater fans all around the world and we look forward to marking the 80th anniversary of the Tony Awards with our best show yet,” said Heather Hitchens, president and CEO of the American Theatre Wing, and Jason Laks, president of The Broadway League, in a joint statement.
