‘Michael’ to Receive Musical Tribute at 2026 Gotham Film Awards
The 36th Annual Gotham Film Awards Ceremony will present the cast and creative team behind “Michael” with the Gotham Musical Tribute.
Inaugurated last year by Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson of “Song Sung Blue,” director Antoine Fuqua, actors Colman Domingo, Jaafar Jackson and Nia Long and producer Graham King will receive the tribute for the film, which grossed more than $1 billion globally.
“For our second Gotham Musical Tribute, we are delighted to honor these incredibly talented actors and filmmakers for bringing Michael Jackson’s life, legend and music to the screen,” said Jeffrey Sharp, the executive director of the Gotham Film and Media Institute. “Their extraordinary work captures the humanity behind one of the world’s most celebrated artists.”

The tribute will be awarded on Nov. 30 at the Gotham Film Awards, which will be held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. “Michael” explores Michael Jackson’s journey from The Jackson Five to becoming one of the most influential musicians of all time, highlighting his life both on and off the stage.
Also starring in the film are Laura Harrier, Juliano Krue Valdi and Miles Teller. The film was written by John Logan and produced by King, John Branca and John McClain. “Michael” is the highest-grossing biographical film of all time, with a sequel currently in development.
This year’s Gotham Awards will also present Danny Boyle with the Gotham Director Tribute for “Ink,” “La Bola Negra” with the Gotham Vanguard Tribute and Laika Studios with the Gotham Anniversary Tribute. Nominees will be announced on Oct. 27.
