John Mayer Sets Sphere Residency for Spring 2027, Combining Full Band, Trio and Solo Sets

John Mayer knows his way around Las Vegas’ Sphere, having spearheaded the residencies that Dead & Company did at that venue in 2024 and 2025. That Grateful Dead spinoff group may have reached its natural end with the death of Bob Weir in January of this year, but as it turns out, that did not mean that Mayer has lost his taste for exploring the possibilities of what can be done with the marriage of music and groundbreaking visuals there. He’s coming back on his own — with the various ensembles he leads as a solo atist — for a residency in April 2027.

Only six dates have been announced for Mayer’s spring residency, although if this is like any other Sphere engagement to date, it’s likely more shows will be added as these sell out. The shows he has put on the calendar for now will all take place in short succession on April 8, 10, 11, 15, 17 and 18.

Mayer fans will be pleased to know these are trifold shows, offering Mayer by himself, with his full band and with the John Mayer Trio. Traditionally, these are separate shows and tours, so the so-called triple bill could augur for some epic-length concerts, in the Dead & Company tradition.

The general on-sale will begin Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. PT at Ticketmaster. An artist pre-sale will take place two days prior to that, Oct. 7. Registration for the presale is now taking place at JohnMayer.com. A SIriusXM presale will take place Oct. 8.

VIP ticket packages will go on sale first, via Ticketmaster on Sept. 30. VIbee packages will also go on sale that day and include stays at the adjacent Venetian Hotel. The announcement said general ticket prices will begin at $129.

For the two Dead & Company residencies, Mayer was the artistic director, commissioning and overseeing the highly acclaimed visuals, setting a high bar — after U2’s initial residency — that other artists following in their wake there have had a hard time measuring up to. The setlists and their accompanying visuals tended to have new wrinkles each night. The announcement for the residency promises that he won’t neglect that side of things, saying “these performances will combine immersive sound, visual spectacle, and sensory feedback to make each show a unique, unforgettable celebration.”
