The Next Spider-Man Actor: Tom Holland Has a ‘Clear Vision’ For His Successor and a ‘Whole Plan’ Is Already ‘Laid Out’

Tom Holland is swinging back into theaters this weekend as Peter Parker in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” but a plan is already being laid out for his replacement. The actor has been vocal in past interviews about wanting to be directly involved in passing the baton to his Spider-Man successor, but he revealed in a new interview on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast that a plan is already taking shape behind the scenes.

“There’s a whole plan that we have been working on for, I would say, since we finished ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,'” Holland said, revealing succession plans have been in the works for five years. “It’s laid out. It’s gonna change for sure, but I have a really clear vision to the passing on of the baton, and I think it’s really exciting.”

Whether or not the next Spider-Man is Miles Morales or another character remains to be seen. Holland told the AP on the “Brand New Day” press tour that he has a “desire to bring Miles Morales to the screen” and to “shepherd the lucky young kid who gets that job.” Morales currently graces the big screen in Sony’s animated “Spider-Verse” franchise, which comes to an end next summer with “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.” Wrapping up the animated franchise could open the door for Sony to move Miles Morales into live-action alongside Holland’s Peter.

“For whoever’s next, whether that is a Miles Morales or a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman or something like that, I would love to be a part of setting up the next chapter,” Holland also told Empire earlier this year. “Whatever that looks like, I don’t know. But if I could do what [Robert Downey Jr.] did for me, then I would be so content swinging off into the sunset.”
