The Best Warzone Perks May Surprise You After The MW4 Overhaul

Modern Warfare 4 integrates with Warzone for Season 1, adding MW4's full weapon pool, attachments, and other new gear into battle royale. The big update also overhauls Warzone's perk system, including the introduction of the powerful new "Elite" perks. In this guide, we'll explain how perks work for this new year of Warzone and include some recommended picks for your next match.

How perks work in Warzone for MW4

For Modern Warfare 4, there are a total of 18 perks available for Warzone. The first 15 are options you can choose for your custom loadouts, fitting into one of three different perk slots. The remaining three are new Elite perks, and you can acquire one during a match as an additional fourth perk.

Elite perks are a special perk type that are only discoverable within a match. These can be gained through various means, including Buy Station purchases or as rewards for completing Supply Run contracts. Only one Elite Perk can be equipped at a time.

Additionally, Tactical Sprint is no longer a perk this year and everyone will have this movement be default.

All perk 1 options

Field Medic

This perk allows you to quickly revive allies to full health, and you gain the same benefits. You also receive increased health while downed.

Hunter

Hunter lets you track enemy footprints, sense nearby enemies, and become alert when aimed at. It also outlines enemies you shoot for a duration.

Stocked

This perk lets you carry an additional lethal and tactical equipment item and see a visible trajectory when you throw it. It deals increased explosive damage from equipment and launchers. When pulled from a loadout drop, it also provides full ammo reserves for your primary and secondary weapons.

Incognito

As the name suggests, Incognito helps keep you off the enemy radar. It reduces the duration you are revealed on radar and the marked Hunter outline. You can only be danger pinged by enemies, and you delay any traps you trigger.

Surveyor

On kill, this perk briefly snapshots the nearby enemy squad and highlights enemies who are knocked in last stand. Enemies also appear on radar when activating a Buy Station or contract.

All perk 2 options

Mountaineer

Mountaineer reduces damage taken from falls avoiding stun and improves climb speeds. It also allows a combat roll to further reduce fall damage.

Adaptive

Adaptive is a perk that improves sprint-to-fire speed with full plates and increases movement speed when you're missing plates.

Scavenger

On kill, this perk causes enemies to drop a pack that supplies ammo, equipment, plates, and cash for your squad.

Drill Instructor

This perk improves your squad's sprint speed (does not stack). Sustained sprinting also starts your health regen.

Deft Hands

Deft Hands is a perk that allows you to insert plates, use equipment, and capture crates faster. You also gain a burst of speed when inserting plates.

All perk 3 options

Berserker

On kill, this perk briefly improves ADS, weapon swap, and reload speeds.

Quick Fix

On kill or plate insertion, Quick Fix will allow you to immediately start health regeneration.

Survivor

This perk allows you to begin regenerating health more quickly. Resistant to flash, concussion, and shock equipment effects. It also reduces non-killstreak explosive damage and makes you immune to knockdown.

Tempered

When refilling armor, Tempered takes only two plates instead of three to fully refill your armor.

Wingman

Wingman is a brand-new perk that makes it cost less to buy back your teammates. Additionally, these redeploys do not produce a flare to signal enemies.

Elite perks

  • Athleticism - Become more agile when strafing, crouching, and when aiming down sights. Reduced ADS penalties for jumping and sliding
  • Phantom - Become undetectable from enemy recon killstreaks, equipment, and perks
  • Fieldcraft - Rapidly regenerate armor and equipment for sustained combat

Best perk choices for MW4 Warzone

Overall, the best perks ultimately come down to your playstyle, but a few options stand out in each slot.

Best perks for slot 1

If you're often your team's medic, Field Medic is a great choice for your first perk slot. This lets you revive your teammates faster and gives you more health when knocked.

You might want to consider the Incognito perk if you're looking for stealth-based tactics. Warzone doesn't have a Ghost perk this year, so nothing will keep you fully off the radar, but Incognito will reduce your exposure.

Otherwise, Surveyor is a strong pick for gaining precious map intel on your opponents.

Best perks for slot 2

Adaptive and Deft Hands are both solid choices for aggressive playstyles. Adaptive is best if you're a player engaging in a lot of gunfights for the fast ADS speeds, but Deft Hands can be a strong choice for any player, as this will let you plate up and push or flee fights faster.

Scavenger remains a solid perk choice, as you can easily top off ammo, armor plates, and cash by scavenging enemy players. I also think it’s always good to have at least one class with this perk in case you need a quick regain after dying.

Best perks for slot 3

Either Berserker or Quick Fix works well if you have an aggressive playstyle. Choose Berserker for all-out speed, or Quick Fix for helping you heal up faster between fights.

Otherwise, Survivor or Wingman are both great choices. If you're the teammate who usually stays alive, then maybe you want Wingman to buy your friends back. Survivor is a solid choice for health regen as well as becoming resistant to flash, concussion, and shock equipment effects.

Best Elite perk choice

All three of Warzone's new Elite perks have their benefits, and this one will definitely come down to personal preference.

Pick Phantom for stealth, Fieldcraft for aggressive play, and Athleticism if your focus is on movement bonuses.
