‘Ted’ Animated Series Sets Peacock Release Date

Peacock has set the premiere date for “Ted: The Animated Series.”

The animated followup to the live-action “Ted” movies will premiere with its first eight episodes on Dec. 17. Additional episodes will air in 2027.

“Ted: The Animated” series was announced in May 2025 and is set 12 years after the events of “Ted” and “Ted 2.” As previously announced, Seth MacFarlane will once again voice the titular teddy bear come to life, with Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Barth reprising their film roles as John, Sam and Tami-Lynn, respectively. In addition, Kyle Mooney will voice the new character Apollo, while Liz Richman will voice Ruth.

The logline for the show states, “Picking up twelve years after the conclusion of the last movie, John (Wahlberg) and his thunder-buddy Ted (MacFarlane) are neighbors, both with families of their own and dead-end jobs. Follow these two lovable stoners as they enable each other’s bad ideas about marriage, parenting and the challenges of adult life.”

This is the second “Ted” TV series on Peacock. The streamer also aired a live-action prequel series set during John’s High School years for two seasons. The cast of that show included MacFarlane as well as Max Burkholder, Alanna Ubach, Scott Grimes and Giorgia Whigham. MacFarlane has previously said there are no plans for a third season, given the high cost of the series.

“Ted: The Animated Series” is created by MacFarlane, Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh. Corrigan and Walsh were also executive producers and showrunners on the prequel series and serve in the same roles on the animated series. Rough Draft Studios provides the animation. MacFarlane executive produces via Fuzzy Door along with Erica Huggins, Alana Kleiman, Jason Clark, Aimee Carlson and Claudia Katz. The series is produced by Universal Global Television and MRC.

The first “Ted” movie proved to be a major box office hit, grossing nearly $550 million on a budget of $65 million in 2012. The 2015 sequel grossed over $215 million. Both films were produced by Universal Pictures and MRC Films.
