“Mission: Impossible” star Simon Pegg is set to play a Hollywood agent in upcoming dark comedy “My Phone Died,” with Mark Duplass (“The Morning Show,” “Creep”) and Haley Joel Osment (“Sixth Sense,” “Blink Twice”) also attached to star.

Set to shoot in the spring of 2027. the film comes from filmmaking duo Hannah Leder and Alexandra Kotcheff, who will write, direct and also co-star. Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park International has acquired all International rights ahead of the American Film Market.

As per the synopsis for “My Phone Died,” when smart phones start exploding around the globe, it’s the end of the world as we know it. But for a few lucky survivors — a Hollywood agent, Amish woman, social media influencer, pregnant agoraphobic and her shotgun-wielding stoner mother — the apocalypse might just be a new beginning.

Pegg will play agent Gus, who narrowly escapes the phone apocalypse, while Duplass plays one of his self-obsessed clients who doesn’t. Osment plays a recovering alcoholic and social media influencer, with Kotcheff as Francis, who has abandoned her Amish community for Osment’s character, and Leder as the agoraphobic and heavily pregnant wannabe-actress Lillie.

“My Phone Died” is a Fire Tiger Films and Thank You So Much production, Kotcheff and Leder’s respective companies. The film marks the pair’s second feature together as writer/directors following 2019’s acclaimed indie comedy-drama “The Planters.”

“My Phone Died is a mad gem of a movie,” said Hyde Park International’s Carl Clifton. “It’s hilarious, smart and utterly original and there’s a genuine warmth that Hannah and Alexandra bring to their characters and every aspect of their filmmaking, that will make for a totally adorable, zeitgeisty and life-affirming movie.”.

Added Leder and Kotcheff: “We’re over the moon to be working with this extraordinary cast and Hyde Park, a company that champions original, global cinema. Our world feels like it’s teetering on the brink of mind-blowing innovation and total self-destruction. ‘My Phone Died’ is our grappling with that, and our nostalgia for simpler times.”

Simon Pegg is represented by Dawn Sedgwick Management, Haley Joel Osment is represented by John Griffin at Griffin Talent and Kristin Kong at MGMT, Mark Duplass is represented by Layne Murrow and Jessica DiBiase at CAA, Hannah Leder is represented by Mark Hartogsohn at Gersh.
