Sandra Hüller Joins ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ in Cameo Role
Oscar nominee Sandra Hüller will make a cameo in Marvel’s “Avengers: Doomsday.”
News of Hüller’s top-secret role comes as directors Anthony and Joe Russo are in post-production on the project, ahead of its Dec. 18 release date. The superhero movie is already stuffed to the gills with award-winning actors and massive movie stars, including Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston and Channing Tatum, plus more “Black Panther,” “Thunderbolts,” “Fantastic Four” and “X-Men” actors. The movie also features the much-anticipated returns of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and Oscar winner Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom, taking on the villainous role instead of Iron Man/Tony Stark.
Not much has been revealed about the plot for “Avengers: Doomsday,” except for the fact that Downey’s Doctor Doom represents the superheroes’ most dangerous foe yet. Rumors about Hüller’s involvement began swirling a couple of weeks ago, with some fans speculating she could be tied to Downey’s Doom (perhaps his mother) or that she might play another of the Latverian Witches (who don the colorful robes Marvel displayed at this year’s Comic-Con).

The Marvel cameo also marks Hüller’s fifth major feature in 2026, following “Project Hail Mary” (with newly announced Marvel superhero Ryan Gosling, who’ll play Ghost Rider), “Rose,” “Fatherland” and “Digger,” all of which are players in this year’s awards race. In 2024, the German star earned her first best actress Oscar nomination for “Anatomy of a Fall,” one of two best picture nominees in which she starred that year. (The other film was “The Zone of Interest,” which won two Oscars, including best international feature; “Anatomy of a Fall” won the Oscar for best original screenplay.)
The Hollywood Reporter first reported Hüller’s involvement. Marvel Studios does not comment on casting.
