‘Madison’ Horror Game to Get Movie Adaptation From Story Kitchen
Pulse-pounding psychological horror game “Madison” is going to splash some blood on the silver screen.
L.A.-based Story Kitchen, a production company specializing in game-to-movie adaptations, has inked a pact with “Madison” developer Bloodious Games to develop a feature film set in the world of the first-person horror title.
Currently, there’s no casting info for the “Madison” movie or other details on the production including expected release date, director or screenwriter. The project does not yet have a distribution partner but Story Kitchen is targeting it for a theatrical release.
In the “Madison” game, you play as Luca Maxwell, who has received an instant camera as a 16th birthday present. Unfortunately for Luca, the camera is inhabited by a demon that forces him to continue a murderous ritual started decades ago by a satanist serial killer (the titular Madison). Players must solve puzzles using the camera to try to break the cycle of madness.

Story Kitchen, co-founded by “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie franchise producer Dmitiri Johnson, is spearheading several other game adaptations. Those include the “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft” animated series for Netflix, “Life Is Strange” (Prime Video) and “Streets of Rage” (Lionsgate).
First launched in 2022, “Madison” has received multiple awards and recognitions, including best narrative – grand winner at the NYX Game Awards and best game at EVA 2022. Bloodius also has released an immersive VR version of the game.
The partnership with Story Kitchen comes as Bloodious continues to expand the “Madison” universe. The Maxwells’ Curse, a new story expansion, is set to arrive in 2027, free for all “Madison” owners. In addition, a free Halloween update to the game introduces two difficulty modes: an expanded Normal Mode, designed to make the experience more accessible to newcomers to horror and puzzle games; and Possession Mode, an “intense new challenge that pushes even the most experienced players to their limits.”
“’Madison’ earned its reputation one heartbeat at a time. Players don’t just remember the story; they remember what it did to them,” Story Kitchen co-founders Dmitri Johnson and Mike Goldberg said. “Our job is to carry that physical experience into a theater without losing what makes it Bloodious’s world.”
Bloodious founder Alexis Di Stefano, the game’s creator and director, said, “We built ‘Madison’ to be felt, not just played. Story Kitchen understood from the first conversation that the camera, the house, the Maxwell family, and the terrifying entities behind it all aren’t just set dressing; they’re the franchise. That’s who we wanted to build the next chapter with.”
Story Kitchen has a TV first-look deal at Amazon MGM Studios and an animated film first-look deal at DreamWorks Animation. The company is repped by WME and Pryor Cashman.
