Beyoncé Drops Unreleased Song ‘Morning Dew (Donk)’ Ahead of ‘B’Day’ 20th Anniversary Reissue
Beyoncé is ringing in July 4 with a treat for her fans, dropping the long-unreleased song “Morning Dew (Donk)” ahead of the 20th anniversary of her sophomore album “B’Day.”
“Morning Dew (Donk),” which hit streaming services early Saturday morning, begins a 60-day countdown to the reissue of “B’Day” on September 4, which is also Beyoncé‘s birthday. According to a release from Parkwood Entertainment, the song arrives along with a lyric video directed by Cliff Watts that repurposes old footage. It was originally written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon, and produced by Beyoncé and Williams.
“Morning Dew (Donk)” has long been the stuff of legend in the Beyhive. It was reportedly recorded in 2013 and leaked as a snippet in 2021 before hitting the Internet in full two years later. With the official release of “Morning Dew (Donk),” Beyoncé marks her first new music in two years as a “direct nod to her loyal BeyHive to commemorate the upcoming epic celebration of ‘B’Day,'” says the release.

Beyoncé initially released “B’Day” on September 4, 2006. The album, which spawned the singles “Déjà Vu,” “Ring the Alarm” and “Irreplaceable,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling more than 541,000 units in its first week. In April 2007, she released a deluxe edition of the album with five new songs along with the “B’Day Anthology Video Album,” which included 13 music videos.
Beyoncé last released her Grammy-winning album “Cowboy Carter” in 2024. It has long been rumored that her next project, which will conclude her “Renaissance” trilogy, will be a rock record, though Beyoncé herself is yet to confirm details around it.
