Alien: Isolation 2 Team Confirms Physical Edition, Photo Mode, and New Gameplay Details
The team behind Alien: Isolation 2 released a Q&A that reveals new gameplay details, including using your real-life microphone, a physical edition, a photo mode, and more.
The team at Creative Assembly released a 17-minute video outlining its vision for Alien: Isolation 2 by answering fan questions about the game, and there's a lot to look forward to. For starters, players can expect a physical edition of the game when it launches in 2027. That means it will beat the deadline to be published on a disc, just ahead of PlayStation's all-digital shift in 2028. The game will also boast a photo mode, which aims to be "everything you expect from a camera."
They're working hard to feature all of the detailed settings you'd expect from an actual camera, such as depth of field, lighting options, filters that call back to the original films, and more. As for the team building this game, about a third of the original crew that made the first title are working on the sequel, but they were looking for big fans when interviewing staff for the initial game. Lead game designer James Green called the sequel a "dream project."
Alien: Isolation 2 will be set months after the first game and, as revealed in a trailer, it will take place partially outside, which will allow the Xenomorph to behave differently. It will use the wider environment to hunt you more effectively by taking advantage of the rough weather and lack of claustrophobic environments where you can typically hear or see it coming. The team is once again trying to tap into the feeling of the original film, where a singular Xenomorph is hunting you as opposed to a whole army of them.
One big feature the team is also pushing is that you can enable an option to toggle your microphone on and off. This will take whatever audio is being fed into your mic, whether it be you screaming, setting down a cup on your desk, or your dog barking, and feed it back into the game. As a result, whatever noise you make in real life could theoretically attract the Xenomorph or other threats.
