‘The Beatles’ Biopics Producer Says Releasing All Four Movies at Once in 2028 Will Have a ‘Cumulative Power That’s Greater Than the Sum of Its Parts’
The release strategy for Sam Mendes’ much-hyped and all-star The Beatles biopics — all four of which are hitting cinemas simultaneously in April 2028 with Sony Pictures Entertainment — has caused several in the industry to scratch their heads in wonder.
But Pippa Harris, who is producing “The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event” for her and Mendes’ Neal Street Productions, attempted to explain the philosophy behind it during an industry talk at the BFI London Film Festival.
“The idea at the moment is the films will come out in 2028, and we want people to be able to experience them in the cinema at the same during the same period,” she said, adding that while she didn’t expect audiences to “see all four films on the same day,” the concept was for a more scattered approach to viewing them.

“So within the same month — you might see one a week, or you might see one weekend and two the next and one the next. However you see it, I think our hope is that people will see all four films.”
Each film in the series will be from the perspective of a different band member, and are being led by Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr and Harris Dickinson as John Lennon.
Harris, one of the most highly regarded British producers working today with a catalogue including the likes of “Hamnet,” “Revolutionary Road,” “Jarhead” and many more, said that the Beatles films “stand alone as individual stories of each of those four men, but they have a cumulative power, which I think is greater than the sum of the parts.”
She added: “The Beatles are simply, I think, the greatest band in history and we’re trying trying to do our best to do them justice, hence the four films. I don’t think there’s another band that you could legitimately say you wanted to see four films about.”
Harris noted that she was speaking on “day 180” of the shoot. “It’s a big endeavor!”
