‘South Park’ Mocks Trump While Celebrating Emmy Win for Outstanding Animated Program

“South Park” threw one final jab at President Donald Trump Sunday night as the show celebrated its Emmy win for Outstanding Animated Program.

The official “South Park” X account posted a graphic of Trump with his pants and underwear around his ankles, holding an Emmy award triumphantly in the air. The post was captioned, “Congratulations to Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and the entire South Park team on their Emmy win for Outstanding Animated Program!”

In the photo, “You finally got your Emmy” is written above Trump’s head. This is most likely a knock at the president’s track record with the TV Academy honor. Trump was nominated twice at the Emmys for “The Apprentice,” receiving nods for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program in 2004 and 2005. He lost both times.

Trump was the main antagonist in “South Park” Season 27 and Season 28. After a two-year hiatus, Season 27 exploded onto Comedy Central with one of the most explicit and politically charged episodes in the series’ history. It showed Trump in bed with his lover and the future father of his child, Satan, and the grand finale was a PSA starring a deep-faked, naked Trump wandering through the desert. It ended with a scathing presidential slogan: “Trump: His penis is teeny-tiny, but his love for us is large.”

Series creator Trey Parker addressed the political angle in an interview with The New York Times. He explained that they put Trump in “South Park” not because “we got all political,” but instead because “politics became pop culture.”

“It’s like the government is just in your face everywhere you look,” Parker said. “Whether it’s the actual government or whether it is all the podcasters and the TikToks and the YouTubes and all of that, and it’s just all political and political because it’s more than political. It’s pop culture.”
