‘SNL U.K.’ Weekend Update Tackles Meghan Markle Dad Allegations, James Bond Auditions and ‘Glee’ Reboot
“Saturday Night Live U.K.’s” Weekend Update isn’t afraid to tackle the most controversial topics, as the show proved again this weekend when co-host Paddy Young directly referenced the allegations that emerged this past week regarding Meghan Markle’s father.
“In royal news, it’s been a big 24 hours for Meghan Markle, whose dad has been accused of being an alleged pedophile, in another pathetic attempt to win over the British public,” he said.
“In 2025, Thomas Markle moved to the Philippines in a sure sign of his innocence. If the allegations about Meghan Markle’s father are true and he is a pedophile, there is a genuine chance Meghan could be considered royal.”

That wasn’t the only provocative subject that came up during the latest Weekend Update. Young’s fellow host Ania Magliano also brought up the recently-announced “Glee” reboot – taking a shot squarely at the show itself.
“This week, it was announced that the musical comedy ‘Glee’ will be rebooted on Disney+,” said Magliano. “The original series was famously struck by repeated tragedies, including multiple cast deaths, and also being written, produced, and broadcast.”
Young also threw his hat in the ring for the James Bond auditions, which are said to be taking place this weekend, telling the audience: “I know this is late, but I’d like to put myself forward.” He immediately (purposely) fluffed it, bluring out: “The James Bond — bollocks.”
And he also threw in a shot at the BBC, saying: “In big media news, Radio Four Extra has announced it will close in what is sure to be devastating news for its listener.”
