Peacock Sets ‘Assassins’ Competition Show Based on Popular School Game; Scarlett Johansson to Produce
Watch your back: Peacock has greenlit a new competition series, “Assassins,” based on the popular stealth game played among high school and college students.
Hailing from executive producer Scarlett Johansson, “Assassins” follows a group of players as they compete in a “ruthless game of cunning strategy and wit.” Per the synopsis, “From the moment they arrive, each player is assigned a target — one person they must eliminate before the season is out. But in this game, every hunter is also the hunted, and no one is ever safe. With shifting alliances and deception, only the most calculating player will survive to win it all.”
A host for the series has yet to be announced.

Assassin is a real-life game played around the world, with NERF guns or water pistols most commonly used as the assassination method. (Some people use plastic spoons or Sharpies.)
“Assassins” is executive produced by Johansson, as well as B17 Entertainment co-founders Brien Meagher and Rhett Bachner. B17 Entertainment is a part of Sony Pictures Television.
The competition show is a similar format to another Peacock project, the Emmy-winning hit “The Traitors.” Hosted by Alan Cumming, the social deduction game follows a group of contestants (who are sometimes celebrities) engaging in a Mafia or Werewolf-style game of deception.
Johansson was recently announced as an executive producer of another upcoming TV show, a comedy project from her husband Colin Jost and “The Office” alum Danny Chun. The show was made outside of the Hollywood studio system and financed with brand deals.
