‘High Potential’ Lands Post-Super Bowl LXI Slot on ABC Next February
ABC will take advantage of the post-Super Bowl glow to promote the Kaitlin Olson drama “High Potential,” the network announced Monday. That means the show will air immediately following Super Bowl LXI on ABC and Disney+ on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2027.
That’s not the only show that Disney hopes to give a Super Bowl halo effect. As Variety previously reported, Hulu plans to launch the new Dan Fogelman-produced football drama “The Land” on Super Bowl Sunday as well.
This reps the first time ABC has aired the Super Bowl since 2006. That year, the network ran an episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” behind Super Bowl XL. Before that, in 2003, it ran an episode of “Alias” after Super Bowl XXXVII.

Other ABC shows that have received the Super Bowl lead out slot include “The Practice” (2000, Super Bowl XXXIV). In 1995, the network used the slot to launch the pilot episode of a long-forgotten series titled “Extreme.” (The James Brolin adventure drama was canceled after seven episodes.) It ran the comedy pilot “Davis Rules” in 1991; and most successfully, launched the series “The Wonder Years” behind Super Bowl XXII in 1988.
Last year, NBC didn’t schedule a lead-out behind the Super Bowl, instead sticking with Winter Olympics coverage (which it also did in 2022). In 2025, Fox ran the game show “The Floor” behind Super Bowl LIX, and in 2024, CBS aired the series premiere of “Tracker” after Super Bowl LVIII, attracting 18.44 million viewers. That reps the last scripted show to air after the Big Game.
“High Potential” is set to return for Season 3 in early 2027 on Tuesday nights (streaming the next day on Hulu) the network noted. “High Potential” ended the 2025-2026 broadcast season as the No. 1 show among adults 18-49, according to the Alphabet net, with a 3.35 rating after 35 days of viewing on ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and digital platforms. In viewers, the show averaged 16.01 million viewers in the same multiplatform, 35-day results.
“High Potential” stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, Daniel Sunjata as Karadec, Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdil, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot, and Judy Reyes as Selena.
20th Television is behind “High Potential,” which is based on the French series “Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI)” and was created in the U.S. by Drew Goddard. Goddard and Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles, Nora and Lilla Zuckerman and Kaitlin Olson serve as executive producers. Andrea Massaro (Goddard Textiles) serves as co-executive producer.
Here’s the announcement of the post-Super Bowl move, as revealed during Monday night’s “Monday Night Football” game:
