Brand New Day Is Thwipping Amazing, So Continue The Web-Slinging Fun With These Spider-Man Games On Sale

I wasn’t fully aware at the time, so I may be misremembering, but I’m 90% certain my first words were "Spider-Man." I loved anything and everything involving the character, and as a child, I wanted to swing across New York City, saving the day. As a teenager, and now an adult, I appreciate Peter Parker’s struggles more than ever. Brand New Day, the latest Marvel movie, made me emotional and had me jumping out of my cinema seat in excitement, and if you want to continue that sense of adrenaline, Marvel’s Spider-Man games are on sale right now at their lowest prices yet.

Originally PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 exclusives, the Marvel’s Spider-Man series has since become available on PC. Yuri Lowenthal’s take on the wall-crawler is easily one of the best interpretations, delivering a version of Spider-Man who is years into his career and constantly juggling crime-fighting with holding down a job. The first game sees Mr. Negative take center stage, leading an organization called the Demons as they wreak havoc across New York City and attempt to take down Norman Osborn, the city’s mayor. It’s just $21.59 / £18 for the remastered version at Fanatical, which is 64% off the retail price.

Next up is the smaller, but still excellent, standalone game Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Following the events of the first entry, Miles is tasked with keeping the city safe in Peter’s absence, making him New York’s only Spider-Man. However, he has a tough challenge ahead of him as a new villain called the Tinkerer begins wreaking havoc while taking on the shady corporation Roxxon Energy. This entry is currently just $18 / £14.39 at Fanatical.

Lastly, at least for now, is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Building on the two previous games, this entry lets you play as both Peter and Miles, with each Spider-Man bringing their own abilities to the fight. This time, Kraven the Hunter is making a name for himself by hunting down Spider-Man’s greatest enemies, and eventually the web-slingers themselves. Oh, and Peter ends up becoming attached to the symbiote, which inevitably leads to Venom’s arrival. Not a great time for the superhero duo, but honestly, playing as Symbiote Spider-Man is a lot of fun. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will set you back $36.29 / £30.24 right now with Fanatical, which is the lowest price it has ever been.

What makes all three of these games worth playing, especially as a Spider-Man fan, is how well they capture the best elements of the wall-crawler. They feature heartfelt, personal narratives focused on Peter and Miles as they balance their lives as superheroes with their responsibilities as normal people, while the combat captures the agility you'd expect from these Marvel characters. Bouncing off walls to kick a criminal in the head feels slick as you build up your combo meter.

Insomniac Games has nailed the atmosphere of swinging through New York. I regularly boot up the game just to swing around, taking in the sights before being alerted to a new crime. If Tom Holland’s movies deliver the spectacle, Marvel’s Spider-Man delivers on the day-to-day life of being a superhero.

You can grab Steam keys for all three games from Fanatical right now, and if you have yet to see Brand New Day, go buy a cinema ticket and give it a watch. Then come back and buy these games. I know you want to.
