Blumhouse Soliciting Testimony from Anyone Who Feels ‘Personally Victimized’ by One of Its Movies or TV Shows
Have any Blumhouse horror films scared the living shit out of you? The studio admits that you might have a case.
But before you file that class action lawsuit, Blumhouse is acting a bit tongue-in-cheek. To promote the new season of its USA Network legal thriller “The Rainmaker,” Blumhouse is putting out an ad calling on viewers who have been “personally victimized by a Blumhouse movie or series” and suggesting that “you may be entitled to compensation.”
Emphasis on the “may.” In the fine print, Blumhouse adds: “No real lawsuit is being filed. No real legal claims are being made. Your trauma, however, is completely valid and we are prepared to argue that in front of absolutely no one.”

But Blumhouse is indeed looking for those who feel they’ve been wrongfully spooked to file their complaints at bit.ly/blumhouseclaims, and the studio will collect and share those submissions on its social accounts.
The spoof ad was launched Friday on Blumhouse’s social channels as well as through the Blumhouse Atomic Monster newsletter “The Van.”
“’The Rainmaker’ is every bit a Blumhouse show, and we wanted to celebrate it in a way that felt true to who we are,” said Blumhouse Atomic Monster chief marketing officer Karen Barragan. “So this idea is about bridging those worlds, speaking to the existing fandom and expanding the audience. We had to have many, many discussions with lawyers as you can imagine, but it was worth it and we love the result.”
The campaign comes as Season 2 gets underway, with Episode 2 airing this Friday on USA Network. The series is also now available on Prime Video, where it was No. 9 across all content in the U.S. on Friday.
Season 1 of “The Rainmaker” was also USA Network’s most-watched freshman series in seven years was the most-watched new scripted TV series across cable in 2025.
Here’s this season’s logline: “Rudy Baylor (played by Milo Callaghan), an underdog lawyer takes on powerful interests alongside his boss Jocelyn “Bruiser” Stone (Lana Parrilla) and his right-hand man Deck Shifflet (P.J. Byrne), the firm’s colorful paralegal. This season, J. Lyman Stone and Associates faces old adversaries and new ones in a case where the lives of hundreds of children hang in the balance, and where winning might be just as dangerous as losing. Later, Rudy goes up against his former law school flame, Sarah Plankmore (Madison Iseman), in the courtroom at the behest of her mysterious new boss, Amanda Vonn (Merle Dandridge), a powerful attorney whose agenda may be hiding a shocking international conspiracy. In a separate case, Bruiser’s ex-husband Tom Cassady (Austin Nichols) turns to her for help as his legal troubles threaten his life and that of the star pitcher (Liam O’Halloran) of the minor league baseball team he coaches.”
Quipped “The Rainmaker” exec producer/showrunner Michael Seitzman: “I ran it past Rudy, Deck and Bruiser. They took one look at the box office for ‘Obsession’ and said, that’s our whale.”
Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Atomic Monster are behind the show. Michael Seitzman is showrunner and exec producer; John Grisham, Patrick Moran, Jason Richman, David Gernert and Jason Blum are also executive producers.
